GENERAL QUESTIONS

How long is the turtle tour?

Our tours typically last around 1.5 to 2 hours, including a safety briefing, gear fitting, and time in the water with the turtles. 

What time do tours usually start?

Tour times vary based around low tide as that is the safest time to swim in the passage. 

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date and time, especially during peak travel seasons.

What’s included in the tour price?

The price includes a guided tour, sea scooters*, snorkel gear (mask, snorkel, fins), safety briefing, experienced local guides and photography.

*Sea Scooters for specific adventures.

Will we definitely see turtles?

We can guarantee a turtle encounter. Our guides are highly experienced and know the best spots where turtles are regularly seen.

Are we allowed to touch or feed the turtles?

No. For their safety and yours, we practice a strict no-touch, no-feed policy. Observing them respectfully is key to conservation.

How does the tour protect the marine environment?

We follow eco-tourism best practices, including no-contact rules, small group sizes, and promoting reef-safe sunscreen.

Are there photos or videos available after the tour?

Yes! Our guides capture moments during the tour. All photos are available for download after the tour. 

Is transportation to and from the site included?

Transport is not included. Please find your way to the site location independently. There is parking on site and a bus around Rarotonga.

SAFETY

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, basic swimming skills are required.
You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable in the water.

Is the tour suitable for children or older adults?

Yes! As long as participants are reasonably fit and confident in the water. Our recommended age is 7 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Contact us for exceptions.

Is it safe to swim with turtles?

Absolutely. Our guides prioritise your safety and the turtles’ well-being. The experience is safe, respectful, and non-invasive.

Are there lifeguards or guides in the water with us?

Yes, our trained guides accompany every group in the water, ensuring safety and offering assistance when needed. Alongside the guides is a safety boat and paddle board.

GEAR & PREPERATION

What should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, swimwear, a water bottle and a change of clothes for after

Is snorkeling gear provided, or should I bring my own?

We provide high-quality snorkeling gear. You’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Do I need to wear fins and a snorkel?

Fins are recommended and included in your gear set to help you move more easily in the water.

Can I bring a waterproof camera or GoPro?

Yes! You're welcome to bring a waterproof camera or GoPro to capture your experience. We have GoPro's that our crew uses to capture your experience for you.

Where do we meet for the tour?

Meeting point details will be provided upon booking. Tours depart from our Ariki location near the Avaavaroa Passage. 

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions are unsafe, we’ll either reschedule your tour or offer a refund. Your safety is our top priority.

Can I join if I have a medical condition or injury?

Please consult with your doctor and let us know ahead of time. We want to make sure the experience is safe and enjoyable for you.
